TEAM RD 11: The experienced trio returns

Hawthorn made three changes ahead of their clash with Brisbane on Sunday afternoon at Marvel Stadium.

Hawthorn will welcome an experienced trio for their Round 11 match against Brisbane on Sunday afternoon at Marvel Stadium, as part of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

To boost the club’s defensive and forward units, James Sicily, Jack Scrimshaw and Jack Gunston return to the side.

Sicily recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered two rounds ago, while Scrimshaw returned from his one-game suspension.

Gunston will enter his 249th game after being coached for the club’s loss to Yartapuulti at Adelaide Oval.

As mentioned in Thursday’s statement, striker Nick Watson has been selected and Jai Serong has been omitted, while the third confirmed is defender Ethan Phillips.

Hawthorn executive general manager of football Rob McCartney welcomed the three additions of Sicily, Scrimshaw and Gunston for Sunday’s game.

“The return of Sicily, Scrimshaw and Gunston adds experience to a group that has performed more consistently over recent weeks,” McCartney said.

“As we have seen in the early part of the season, Sicily and Scrimshaw have the ability to defend first and then create the counterattack, while Gunston’s talent and leadership adds to our synergy and power forward.”
