Dawn Fire Devastates Mavoko Law Court Records

Several files have been burnt after a fire broke out at the Mavoko Law Courts in Machakos early Friday morning.

Police said the full extent of the damage caused by the fire is not yet known.

The matter was reported to the Athi River Police Station within Athi River South Sub-County as a fire incident report at Mavoko Law Courts at around 4.40am on Friday.

Police said the incident was reported to the station by a senior court employee.

“A court employee reported that a fire had broken out in the said premises. Police officers from Athi River police station, accompanied by DCI officers, rushed to the spot where it was established that the fire spread from the courtroom. of court files and slightly in the accounting room, where several files were burned,” a police source told the Star on Friday.

The Mavoko Law Courts are about 100 meters from the police station.

Police said firefighters from Mavoko Sub County of Machakos County Government responded timely to the incident and managed to contain the fire.

“The cause of the fire is yet to be established. The case is pending investigation,” the officer said.

He said detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations attached to Athi River police station had launched investigations into the incident.
