Tanker truck drivers call off strike

Fuel tanker drivers in Ghana have called off their strike over what they say are poor service conditions.

Known as the Ghana National Tanker Drivers Union, it announced an indefinite strike on Tuesday and demanded better conditions of service, especially with regard to remuneration.

But after a meeting with all stakeholders, the tanker drivers issued a statement calling off the strike.

The statement stated that the framework for their remuneration had been adopted and its implementation was expected to begin at the end of June 2024.

Union members at a press conference said that despite an already agreed policy framework aimed at improving their salaries and other working conditions, which is pending since November 2023, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and the Ministry of the sector They have refused to implement the policy.
