Floreat resident David said his daughter reported hearing three or four gunshots.

“She ran in and told me she knew it was gunshots and locked the doors until I got home,” he said.

“The people in this area are very nice, very friendly and yes, it is sad.”

Another resident, who asked not to be identified, said he was bringing his children home from a sporting event when he heard a series of loud bangs that he thought were someone hitting a sheet of metal.

“I heard bang, bang, bang, bang,” he said.

He said there were three or four shots fired before a break of a few minutes, followed by another three or four shots.

The man said he saw a marked police car on the corner of the street and then some unmarked police cars drove by with officers in tactical gear.
