Illegal invasion: DCI detectives pursuing detained suspects in Tanzania

Five police detectives from Buruburu sub-county, Nairobi County, have been arrested by Tanzanian police after unknowingly crossing into the neighboring country.

The five, from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, were investigating an alleged motor vehicle theft syndicate operating between Nairobi and Tanzania.

DCI officers had arrested a suspected car thief, Samuel Ngatia, who led them to another suspect in Tanzania.

It was when the five; Ali Ibrahim, Joel Osinya, Moses Wainaina, Josephat Mungania and Moses Kiongera arrested the Tanzanian who raised the alarm attracting the attention of police officers from Tarakea Police Station in Tanzania who were on patrol, who pounced on the officers and arrested them along with suspicion.

The Kajiado South DCIO, together with officers from the Illasit police station, were unable to secure the release of the officers, who were then transferred to the Rombo Mkuu district headquarters.

The agents have not yet been released.
